There's not much we can say about today's song except it's as rock as a song can get!
It's Born To Be Wild by the Canadian band Steppenwolf.

It was the band's second single and projected the band into stardom when it was chosen to be part of the Easy Rider OST.
The song is said to be the first ever "heavy metal" song and some suggest it also gave the name to the genre itself, indeed, one of the verses contains the first recorded reference to "heavy metal" -- "Heavy metal thunder".

You can get the song on iTunes.

Here's a song you can't help not jumping around when you hear it: Sultans of Swing by Dire Straits.
It's one of those songs we could keep listening on and on and never get tired of.

It was recorded as a demo by the still unknown Dire Straits and soon released as their first single after it had been put in rotation on Radio London.
The song helped driving sales of the band's first album and definitely made them a world renowned band.

You can get the song on iTunes. Give a listen to the extended live version in this album, too.

Sorry for yesterday, but we couldn't make it in time.

Anyway, to apologize, here's a great song with incredibly bright guitars which make for some great laid-back indie rock.
They are The Seldon Plan and the song is Dance, Despite The Obvious.

You can find their songs on Amie Street and MySpace.

The song we are suggesting is Breathe which we could keep listening to on and on.
Indeed, it's one of the best songs we've listened to recently.

Drain You by Nirvana

Today, we're back with our usual jump in the past, even though we're not making a very long jump, indeed, we're going back to 1991.
The song is Drain You by Nirvana; it's the eighth track in the band's most famous album, Nevermind.

Drain You wasn't a single, nor is one of the best known tracks by Nirvana. We could've picked Smells Like Teen Spirit, Come As You Are or Heart Shaped Box, but everyone already knows them, plus we wanted to suggest a song the band itself loved.
Kurt Cobain used to say Drain You was at least as good as Teen Spirit and was one of the few songs he loved to play live -- indeed, it was often played as the opening songs for their concerts.

There are a whole bunch of Nirvana songs we love and we might feature in the coming months, but this one definitely epitomizes the band's activity: a powerful riff with deep lyrics.

Now, head to iTunes, download this song and take your guitar out of the closet! ;)

We usually promote only a few genres of songs because we love to promote songs we really like.
Today, we chose a different kind of song: Quench is a great song with a very relaxing sound!

Today, we are pleased to suggest you I am caught in a Sentimental Spell from a very talented artist called Luka MckDawson.

We listened to all songs in his album Count ten, but our favourite was this one.
Luka's songs are melodic and everyone is different from the other (too often we see artists exploiting the same melody over and over).

You can find him on Amie Street.

100 Rumors by The Valley Arena

Today, we opted for something a tad harder than usual.

They are The Valley Arena and the song is called Harder.
Somehow it remembers me of brit-rock -- of course, not the mellower stuff -- and especially a band I used to like a lot a few years ago, My Vitriol. Muse come to my mind, too, when I listen to their songs.

You can find them on Amie Street, iTunes, Virb, Pure Volume and MySpace.

Hi folks! First of all, we wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR!
We're back from holidays with a lot of good moosic!!

A few weeks ago we featured a song called Live My Life by Soulfire.
Today, we'd like to suggest another beautiful song from the same group: Still So Many Things to Say.

Soulfire are also the first Artist of the Week of the new year, so enjoy the interview we had with them.

If you are looking for more, you can get it from our usual source, Amie Street.

Hurricane by Bob Dylan

We all love some Dylan every now and then, and today, I'd like to suggest a song I've always loved: Hurricane.

Hurricane is a protest song Dylan wrote about the imprisonment of Rubin "Hurricane" Carter which sparked a lot of controversy, including inside Dylan's recording label, Columbia, which forced him to rewrite the song fearing a lawsuit.

The song is in pure Dylan style and one each one of you should have on her/his MP3 player to remember how songs were once written.
You can find it on iTunes.

Today, we have the pleasure to feature a very talented artist: Amanda Kaletsky.
You can immediately hear her beautiful voice. And if you listen closely to her songs -- like Say You Believe, which is featured today -- you can tell she is a great songwriter, too.

If you, like me, like Amanda you can follow her personal blog or find other info on her MySpace profile, on Last.fm or on Our Stage.

Poets & Pornstars is a great band playing a pure Rock n Roll.
Earthman is a rock-melodic song -- it's not heavy as other of their songs -- and I really love it.

You might say AC/DC and Aerosmith influenced them, but I think they put their own imprint on music.
I feel like Hal Ozsan and his band we'll have a shining future in the international panorama.

You can find their CD, Poets & Pornstars, on Amazon.
If you'd rather download the songs, you can find them on Amiestreet, Artistdirect and Rhapsody.

Shannon Hurley is a really talented artist from Burbank, CA.
She comes from a family of singers, she studied music most of her life and recently she was named one of the top 25 artists on MySpace by Rolling Stones.
I was really impressed by her voice, strong but always gentle, which is why we decided to pick her as this week's artist.

The song we're suggesting today is probably the definitive classic, indeed there's not much we can say about it: it's called Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd, of course.
In my humble opinion, it's one of the finest songs ever, and it's one of the few songs that gives me goose bumps every single time I listened to them.

You can get it from iTunes.

Todays' artist is a really crazy girl living -- for now -- in Las Vegas. She's a great songwriter and a good singer, too.
Abbie Smith, with the song Boo, mix a deep song with a soft and pure voice.

You can buy Abbie's songs on Amie Street, Music Is Here, Pay Play, and on iTunes Music Store.
And if you want to have her on your mobile, you can find the ringtones on GroupieTunes.

If you are looking for a wonderful voice and a great band you need to put an eye on The Everyday People.
Today’s song is For Lust and it's really one of the best song I've listened to lately.

Jeffrey David, Ady Hernandez, Chris York and Mitch Cheathem are the people behind these -- as they put it -- funky amalgam of rock and soul melodies.

You can find For Lust or the whole Catch Me album on Amie Street.
More info about them on ReverbNation, MySpace and Facebook.
Last but not least, you can add them to your iLike list, if you've got an iLike account.
